G and I went up behind M's house, and walked along the ditch. It would be hard to find a bad view from M's and Y's side of Paonia.
Because water is way up from this year's snow melt, no one is strictly enforcing water rights. Soon the water will subside and local residents will only be able to use water they've been allotted. Water rights are given in diameter widths, so water is diverted from the ditch using hose(s) of a particular width.
The water is deeper and faster than it looks. M said he once fell in and was swept downstream for several hundred feet before he was able to get out.
Skipping stones.
